چکیده

ABSTRACT In this paper, we introduce a method for stacking data cubelets extracted from interferometric surveys of galaxies in the redshifted 21-cm H},i line. Unlike traditional spectral technique, which stacks one-dimensional spectra cubes, examine based on image domain that makes deconvolution possible. To test validity assumption, mock sample 3622 equatorial GAMA survey, recently imaged as part DINGO-VLA project. We first accuracy using noise-free simulation and note stacked flux estimation are dramatically improved compared to stacking. The H i mass deconvolved agrees with average input within 3 per cent. However, stacking, derived is incorrect by greater than factor 2. For more realistic case stack finite S/N, also produced 20 different noise realizations closely mimic properties survey. recovered predicted ?4 Compared technique extends range science applications where can be used, especially useful characterizing emission extended sources interferometers.

Interferometric Observations of Powerful Co Emission from Three Submillimeter Galaxies

We report IRAM millimeter interferometry of three –3.4 Submillimeter Common-User Bolometric Array z ∼ 2.4 deep field galaxies. Our CO line observations confirm the rest-frame UV/optical redshifts, thus more than doubling the number of confirmed published redshifts of the faint submillimeter population and proving their high-z nature. In all three sources our measurements of the intrinsic gas an...

The Masses of Distant Galaxies from Optical Emission Line Widths

Promising methods for studying galaxy evolution rely on optical emission line width measurements to compare intermediate-redshift objects to galaxies with equivalent masses at the present epoch. However, emission lines can be misleading. We show empirical examples of galaxies with concentrated central star formation from a survey of galaxies in pairs; HI observations of these galaxies indicate ...

H I observations of emission - line galaxies

We present single-dish Lovell telescope H i observations of a sample of 67 emission-line and UV-excess galaxies, of which 52 are taken from the University of Michigan (UM) catalogue. In addition, H i observations of 24 gas-rich irregular galaxies are presented. We find that emission-line galaxies are H i–rich with a median H i mass to blue luminosity ratio MHI /LB of ∼ 0.45 M /L . Within the UM...

Kinematics of Distant Galaxies from Keck

DEEP is a two-phase spectral survey of faint field galaxies with the Keck Telescopes. The goals include exploring galaxy formation and evolution , mapping distant large scale structures, and constraining cosmology. DEEP, since its inception in the early 1990’s, has been distinguished by an emphasis on studying the kinematics and masses of distant galaxies. The major DEEP survey in the second ph...
